PROGRAM CURRICULUM

International Academy Manila’s curriculum emphasizes quality over quantity, ensuring that students acquire essential competencies and relevant life skills tailored to their individual needs and contexts. We partner with both local and international educational institutions to provide a comprehensive and internationally recognized educational experience. Additionally, through the integration of our progressive education program students are equipped with critical thinking and leadership skills, preparing them to become effective leaders in today’s dynamic world.

Our homeschooling curriculum is built upon three key principles of progressive education: Eclectic, Steiner, and Multiple Intelligence, each offering a unique approach to learning.

Eclectic

Eclectic (Natural Learning)

Eclectic homeschooling blends a variety of educational methods, curricula, and learning resources to create a highly personalized learning experience for each child. Rather than following a single teaching philosophy, this flexible approach allows parents and educators to combine the best practices from different educational models, tailoring instruction to the learner’s unique strengths, interests, abilities, and preferred learning style.

Lessons can be adapted to match the child’s pace, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a genuine love for learning. By integrating structured academics with real-life experiences, hands-on activities, and interest-driven exploration, eclectic homeschooling provides a well-rounded, engaging, and dynamic educational journey that nurtures both academic achievement and personal growth.

Steiner Learning by Example

Steiner (Learning by Example)

Inspired by Steiner/Waldorf education, our program aligns with children's natural development by emphasizing sensory play, exploration, storytelling, visual arts, drama, movement, and music while minimizing early exposure to technology. This child-centered approach nurtures creativity, imagination, emotional well-being, and a lifelong love of learning.

The Steiner approach supports learning through three developmental stages:

  • Imitation (Up to Age 6/7)
Learning is guided by imitation and imagination through outdoor play, storytelling, arts, crafts, movement, and practical activities such as cooking and everyday life experiences.
  • Imagination (Ages 6/7–14)
Formal academics are introduced through artistic expression, allowing children to learn using drama, music, nature, crafts, movement, dance, and creative exploration.
  • Discrimination (Ages 14+)
As students mature, they engage in more advanced academic learning while developing critical thinking, reasoning, independent judgment, and abstract thinking skills.
Multiple Intelligence

Multiple Intelligence (Learning by Doing)

Based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, this approach recognizes that every child possesses unique strengths, talents, and ways of learning. Rather than focusing on a single measure of ability, the curriculum encourages learners to develop their full potential through meaningful, hands-on experiences that match their individual learning styles.

Our curriculum supports the following eight areas of intelligence:

  • Verbal-Linguistic – Word Smart
  • Logical-Mathematical – Logic Smart
  • Naturalistic – Nature Smart
  • Interpersonal – People Smart
  • Intrapersonal – Self Smart
  • Visual-Spatial – Picture Smart
  • Bodily-Kinesthetic – Body Smart
  • Musical-Rhythmic – Music Smart

Through these diverse learning experiences, students gain confidence, discover their strengths, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed academically and personally.

Rather than asking “Am I smart?”, our program encourages students to explore “How am I smart?”, adapting learning materials and schedules to highlight each child’s natural abilities.

Our curriculum nurtures students’ practical, social, academic, and artistic interests, fostering self-discovery, creativity, and individuality. Through experiential learning, students are guided to develop and master essential competencies.

Aligned with the Internationally recognized K-12 curriculum, our homeschooling program ensures a seamless transition between traditional schooling and family-supported education. Additionally, International Academy Manila integrates our Values Education curriculum, drawing on the principles of holistic development to instill essential life skills in our students.

BENEFITS OF HOMESCHOOLING:

By thinking long-term, you can determine the essential knowledge and skills that will not only prepare your child for future careers but also equip them to navigate life successfully.

DELIVERY

Learning experiences will primarily be delivered through homeschool methodologies, supported by various tools such as learning management systems, synchronous and asynchronous videos, discussions, and other educational resources tailored to specific competencies.

All instructional materials and activities will be managed through our main Learning Management System. Assessments and follow-up activities will be conducted collaboratively between the school and families. To optimize students’ time and efforts, content and assessments will be integrated across different subjects. Regular and consistent feedback from subject teachers will play a critical role in achieving learning objectives and supporting student progress.

Assessment

ASSESSMENT

Academic performance is assessed through a comprehensive and continuous evaluation process that measures not only students’ academic achievement but also their growth, participation, and overall learning progress throughout the school year.

Comprehensive Assessment

Assessment methods include quarterly examinations, summative assessments, performance-based tasks, projects, and portfolios completed during homeschooling or online classes. This holistic approach evaluates students across various competencies while encouraging the meaningful application of knowledge and skills.

Course Requirements

At the beginning of every quarter, students and parents receive a detailed Course Requirements guide outlining learning objectives, required activities, assessment methods, grading criteria, and submission schedules. This roadmap helps learners organize tasks and monitor academic progress effectively.

Submission of Outputs

Students complete and submit assignments, projects, assessments, and other required outputs through designated folders or approved learning platforms before prescribed deadlines. These submissions provide evidence of learning and mastery of curriculum competencies.

Teacher Feedback

Teachers provide timely, constructive, and individualized feedback on submitted work. This helps students recognize strengths, improve weak areas, and deepen understanding. Continuous communication between teachers, students, and parents supports academic success throughout the school year.

Progress Reports

Student progress is monitored continuously and reflected in quarterly progress reports available through the Wela Portal. Parents are invited to participate in online consultations to discuss achievements, learning progress, areas for improvement, and future strategies that strengthen the partnership between home and school.
